The Nigerian Army on Monday announced that it would henceforth work with a unit of Cameroon Defence Forces in order to improve on the war against the terrorists group, Boko Haram.
The Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, made this known on Monday in Maiduguri in a statement.
The Cameroonian forces, he disclosed were inducted on Sunday at Gwoza by the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas.
According to him, “The Cameroonian troops and their equipment were subsequently handed over to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, who is also the Commander, Sector 1, of Operation Lafiya Dole.”
Speaking at the induction ceremony, Nicholas advised the troops to be disciplined and demonstrate high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He said it was important for them to comply with the directives of the commanding officers in order to conquer the terrorists in good time.
Present at the induction ceremony were the leader of the Cameroonian Defence Forces delegation, Brig.-Gen. Djonkeb Frederick; the GOC 7 Division, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Yusuf, and the Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Theatre Command, Brig.-Gen. I.L. Akinlawon.
It would be recalled that the military, had on Saturday announced that it had won the war against Boko Haram.
The announcement followed the destruction of Boko Haram’s tactical gound in Sambisa Forest.
