Army Troops Neutralise More Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists, Rescue Victims In Borno

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have again attacked the convoy of Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, for the second time in about 72 hours.

The latest attack, The Next Edition gathered occurred on 10.30a.m on Sunday morning around Baga when the governor was on his way back to Maiduguri.

No death was recorded in the attack.

Recall that the governor’s convoy was attacked on Friday in an ambush that left several policemen, Civilian Joint Task Force members and civilians dead.

Many others also sustained injuries in the attack.

Governor Zulum had been in the area to oversee the return of IDP to their ancestral homes.

The PUNCH quoted a member of the convoy as saying: “There was no death recorded this time around except some minor injuries.

“The windscreen of some vehicle were scattered; some vehicles had their tyres burst by gunshots, including the Government House Press Crew bus.

“The military gun truck was also shot at and a soldier had his shoulder scalded with gunshot.”

The latest attack happened minutes after the governor had resettled some IDPs in Baga town.

The governor had on Sunday resettled 521 households displaced from Baga as part of the government plan at restoring normal life in parts of the North-East, which had for years been in the stranglehold of Boko Haram insurgents.
