AUN Awards Scholarships to 73 Candidates Across Nigeria

Sub Saharan Africa’s first American-styled university, the American University of Nigeria (AUN) has granted scholarship to over 73 outstanding candidates that sat for its nationwide examination two weeks ago.

The announcement was made on the official website of the university as part of its yearly tradition before the commencement of the new academic session.

An examination was held on August 5, across the six zones of the country to select the best candidates for different levels of scholarship to study at the university.

It is part of the university’s tradition to attract the best brains across the country into its fold and help students whose families cannot afford the fees but are academically outstanding.

Information on the university’s web site indicated the overall best candidate in the scholarship examination nationwide gets a full scholarship covering tuition, feeding, accommodation and every other fee.

On the other hand, the candidate from each of the 36 states of the country gets a tuition scholarship award whilst the second best-performing candidates from each state of the Federation get a 50 percent tuition scholarship.

The university’s official press release via its public relations and communications department said the AUN is dedicated to attracting the best talents not only in the country but across the African continent.

The institution said it is confident in its ability to raise Africa’s new generation of leaders with the necessary skills needed to make a difference in the ever competitive 21st century.

That is why the scholarship initiative has become a tradition for the institution over the years not only to attract the best academic talents across the nation but to reward excellence and promote inclusivity.

The Next Edition recalls that at the just concluded commencement (convocation) ceremony of the university, the Valedictorian, Onyiyechi Onuigbo was a recipient of the university’s scholarship throughout her four years in the institution.

Ms. Onyinyechi graduated with a 3.99 Gross Point Average (GPA) out of a 4.0 American scale G.P.A in Petroleum Chemistry with full concentration in Engineering.

She missed the ultimate 4.0 score by only 0.1 point and was the highest ever< recorded by a student at the university.
