Founder of the One Love Family, Sat Guru Marahaj Ji, has described the recently established South-West Security Network, code named Amotekun, as a welcome development that will boost the nation’s internal security structure.

Sat Marahaj Ji stated this through a statement made available to the NEXT EDITION, adding that the recently established ‘Operation Amotekun’ was a welcome development geared towards re-tooling the nation’s internal security architecture.

He said Amotekun would help to effectively address the yawning gap in the provision of adequate security to the people of the region, even as he commended the governors of the South-West for the initiatives.

“This is very much overdue. The development has a salutary effect on the pervading pessimism on the capacity of the Federal Government to secure lives and properties of the citizens.

“If Amotekun is well managed and coordinated, it will form the pedestal for the emergence of the state and local government police respectively.

“Amotekun should be seen as a reinforced and re-equipped version of the forest guard, whose duty is to protect environmental Flora and fauna, Amotekun should go beyond that and be directly charged with the responsibility of combing the nooks and crannies of our urban centers, our forests and hinterland in order to fish out the criminals like kidnappers, cattle rustlers whose use the bush and our farms for their operational base to cover up in perpetrating their nefarious acts.

“Amotekun should be granted the power to harness our traditional ways and means with light arms and ammunitions in the discharge of their responsibilities as well as the power to arrest and prosecute criminals,” he said.
