Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Commerce and Industry, Mr. Deji Tinubu, on Thursday slumped and died during a five-a-side novelty football match in Epe.
The match was part of a retreat for Lagos cabinet members, permanent secretaries and directors of ministries.
Tinubu was said to have groaned in pain on the pitch before he slumped.
The incident occurred at about 7.30 p.m.
After he slumped, the Lagos State Emergency Service, which was on hand gave him first aid, but that could not bring him back.
He was almost immediately rushed to Epe General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Tinubu was the chairman of the Lagos Sports Commission and Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports.
He was later made the Special Adviser on Sports alone after the sports commission chairman was given to another person by Ambode.
At the recent cabinet reshuffle by Ambode, he was redeployed to Commerce and Industry as Special Adviser before his death.
Tinubu was also the Director General, Lagos Sports Commission during the former Governor Babatunde Fashola’s tenure.
Deji’s death was the second to hit the Tinubu clan in the two months.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first son, Jide died in November 2017.
