Senator Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker representing Adamawa north, has been granted conditional bail by the Federal Capital Territory police command.
Abbo had turned himself in on Thursday evening following an invitation by the police headquarters in Abuja, for assaulting a lady at an adult sex toy shop in Abuja.
A CCTV video of the assault which took place in May, had gone viral in the course of the week.
According to Channels Television, Sen. Elisha Abbo was granted bail at about noon on Friday after meeting the conditions for his bail.
The bail conditions however, were not disclosed.
It also remains unclear if the lawmaker will be charged to court.
A video which went viral all over social media had shown the lawmaker hitting a lady following some misunderstanding at the adult toy store.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) M.A Adamu, had earlier ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
The Senate had also set up a committee to investigate the matter.
