An Imo Chief Magistrates’ Court has granted bail to Mr. Hercules Okoro, lawmaker representing Ohaji/Egbema Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, charged with assault.
Chief Magistrate O. D. Okoroji granted Okoro bail in the sum of 500,000, on Wednesday while ruling on the application filed by his counsel, Mr. Callistus Osondu.
The lawmaker was arraigned on Monday on an eight-count charge bordering on assault.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The court then ordered that he be remanded in a correctional facility pending ruling.
Okoro was arrested last Friday following a violent altercation between him and the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu.
Hearing in the case has been adjourned until Dec. 16.
