First lady, Aisha Buhari, has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to redouble its efforts in promoting women participation to address barriers to their involvement in the political process.

Buhari was speaking on Tuesday at the maiden edition of APC National Women Conference with the theme, “One Voice: Women Uniting for Progress’’ in Abuja.

“Nigeria’s future is entirely dependent on actualising the potential of our women.’’

She, therefore, called on the party to redouble its efforts toward promoting women and evolve strategies for getting them fully involved.

“As Nigeria heads towards another election year, we must go beyond paying lip service to women interest in the party and government.

“We must put in place workable strategies to ensure that women achieve these objectives.

“APC must show example by ensuring that women occupy strategic positions within the party and in government,’’ she said.

The First Lady, therefore, urged Nigerian women to be resilient by showing greater interest, unity and commitment to achieve the objectives considering their numerical strength.

“Our vintage point lies in our sheer numerical strength,’’ she said (NAN).
