Spokesman of the Police Force in the state, Geoffrey Ogbona, confirming the incident, said the attackers came in a multitude and beat up one of the policemen around.

He said there was however no loss of life in the attack.

Following the clash between Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and the military last week, there had been tension in Abia State, a situation which saw the imposition of a dusk to dawn curfew by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

In an exercise tagged Operation Python Dance, soldiers have been deployed to the South East and part of the South South.

The essence of the exercise, it was gathered, was to stem the tide of state of insecurity.
