Whoopi Goldberg, actress and co-host of ABC’s show, ‘The View’ has been suspended following her remarks on the Holocaust.
In a statement made on the evening of February 1, 2022, ABC’s News President, Kim Godwin said, “Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments.”
“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.
“The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends and communities,” Godwin added.

The movie star went viral on Monday, January 31, 2022 stunning her colleagues at the table when she argued that the Holocaust “isn’t about race.”
She said, “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man, that’s what it’s about.”
Her remarks were condemned by the Jewish community who accused her of minimizing Jewish suffering. She attempted to explain her remarks during her appearance on “The Late Show” and also apologized.
In her apology statement on Twitter, she wrote, “On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both.” “As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people – who they deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected.”
“The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never [waver]. I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused.”
Whoopi Goldberg has starred in several movies including The Lion King, Sister’s Act 1 and 2 and Sarafina.
She has also made guest appearances in other movies and is a recipient of numerous accolades, one of 16 entertainers to win an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award.
