“There was a tremendous increase in the number of new acceptors of family planning in the state last year.

“In 2013, we registered only 19,981 clients, while in 2014 the figure rose to 34,937.

“The figure declined to 32, 795 in 2015 but rose again to 97,308 last year,” Ituh said.

She said that the figure was collated from the 365 health facilities offering the services across the 31 local government areas of the state.

The coordinator attributed the increase to the acceptance of female condoms by more women and their spouses.

She said that the clients were always exposed to both the natural and the artificial methods of family planning in the health facilities offering the services in the area councils.

Ituh explained that the choice for a clients’ adoption of any method depended on age, body composition and the needs of the couples seeking the family planning services.
