61 Killed In Ogun Road Crashes In 3 Months

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has said 61 persons died in various road crashes across the state between January and March 2021.

TRACE Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Akinbiyi, in a statement, said out of 67 road crashes in January, 22 persons died, 19 deaths recorded from 65 crashes in February; and 20, from 69 road accidents in March.

He said out of the 61 deaths recorded, 54 were males; while seven were females.

He said 201 accidents were recorded during the period under review, involving167 vehicles and 34 motorcycles.

Akinbiyi said 415 people, 292 males and 123 females, sustained varying degrees of injuries in the various accidents recorded.

He said most of the accidents were caused by speeding, wrongful overtaking, tyre burst, using mobile phone while driving, among others.
