31,000 Apply For 2,500 Teaching Jobs In Osun

About 31,000 applicants have registered in the ongoing recruitment exercise for 2,500 public school teachers in Osun State.

Out of the number that applied, however, only 29,000 were said to have printed the slip to write an examination for the selected applicants.

Osun State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunsho Oladoyin, made the disclosure while monitoring the recruitment examination.

Oladoyin had in December 2020 said that 1,500 teachers would be recruited into the secondary schools, while 1,000 teachers would be employed into the elementary schools across the state.

Commenting after monitoring the recruitment examination, Oladoyin expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the applicants.

According to him, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board that was given the job has full autonomy to conduct the recruitment examination without interference.

A statement by Roseline Olawumi, the Information Officer of the Ministry of Education, on Wednesday, also quoted the Oladoyin as assuring that only the best applicants would be appointed.

He said, “I still want to reemphasise that only the best is good for our students, and so we are not going to compromise on quality. This appointment will be done purely on merit, because it is about the future of our state.

“31,000 applied through purchase of forms for the appointments, while about 29,000 printed their examination slips to partake in the examination.”
