288 New Coronavirus Infections Recorded In Nigeria

Nigeria on Friday recorded 288 new cases of Coronavirus infections bringing to 5,445 the total number of infections in the country.

Four new fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours—Thursday night to Friday night while 140 recoveries were recorded within the same time frame.

According to the data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Lagos recorded the highest number of cases out of 14 states and Abuja which posted new cases.

It accounted for 179 cases. Kaduna, with 20 cases followed while Katsina and Jigawa followed with 15 new cases each.

Details of the new cases are as seen below:

“288 new cases of #COVID19;

179-Lagos, 20-Kaduna, 15-Katsina, 15-Jigawa, 13-Borno, 11-Ogun, 8-Kano, 7-FCT, 4-Niger, 4-Ekiti, 3-Oyo, 3-Delta, 3-Bauchi, 2-Kwara and-Edo.

“5445 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria
Discharged: 1320
Deaths: 171.”

The centre noted that four cases reported from Plateau and one from Akwa Ibom, on Thursday, were repeat cases.

It said: “On the 14th of May, 4 cases reported from Plateau & 1 case from Akwa Ibom, were repeat cases.

“Therefore Plateau has a total of 21 Cases and Akwa Ibom has a total of 16 cases.

“We apologise to this State Governments for this error & remain committed to ensuring accurate reporting.
