The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Tuesday confirmed 239 fresh cases of COVID-19 thus raising the total infections so far recorded to 54,247.

The health body also announced that 10 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities from the virus to 1023.

On the positive side, the agency said 42,010 persons have made full recovery from the disease across the country.

Again, Plateau, which the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 described as the new hot bed for the disease in Nigeria, recorded the highest number of fresh cases.

It recorded a total of 116 cases followed by the FCT with 33 cases and Lagos with 19 cases.

The new infections were reported from 14 states and the FCT.

Details of other infections are – Ekiti (12), Kaduna (11), Ogun (11), Ebonyi (8), Benue (7), Abia (5), Delta (5), Ondo (4), Edo (3), Imo (2), Osun (2), Bauchi (1).
